NaNoWriMo 2011: Day 2

I didn't get any noveling done during the day today, but my friend MightiMidget and I squeezed in three 10-minute Word Wars in the wee hours of the night. Here's an excerpt from tonight's writing.

Now that I looked closer, I could see that he wore some kind of decoration on his face. Two circles of metal with glass windows in them, perched on his nose and affixed to his head by two metal bars that wrapped around his ears. “This is curious,” I said, reaching for the adornment.

I didn't realize Beck wore glasses until this moment. Love surprises like that!

Day 2 Word Count: 5,212
Words Remaining: 44,788

As a side note, I entered a short story into a contest at Lulu.com. It required putting that short story in eBook format to submit it, so here it is if you're interested in taking a look: The Question: A Short Story

iHeartFaces: Week 9, Contest

iHeartFaces.com is a fun photo site that has weekly contests with various themes, adults' or kids' faces. They keep track of submissions by allowing entrants to link directly to their posts.

The "prize" is having your photo displayed on their homepage with comments from the judges and a link to your blog. This week, the theme is "creative crop", and I'm entering this one for the kids category:

Here's the original, before the crop:

I Heart Faces, Week 7 Contest

One of my dear CP teen writers, Twin4God, posted about a fun photo site called iHeartFaces.com. I thought this would be fun to share with the photographers who visit my blog.

Doodle 4 Google

Google.com is having a Doodle Design competition for K-12 students to play around with their homepage logo and see what new designs they come up with. They are inviting U.S. kids to join in the doodling fun, around the intriguing theme "What I Wish for the World."

I SO want one of those drawing screens. And I love how you can see the lava lamp doing its thing there on his desk.

Doodle 4 Google Competition

Registration closes March 17, 2009. You will need to register through your school/teacher if you're interested. Submit designs by March 31, 2009.
